Summary: Yes, I do have a "Learn to Needle Tat" book in my tatting library! (GASP!!)
It's a soft cover 32 page booklet that also includes 6 patterns that can be easily adapted to shuttle tatting.
In fact, I even have the "Learn to Needle Tat - KIT"! (HORRORS!!!)
Truth is, I am an avid tatter. When I say tatter I don't feel the need to differentiate shuttle from needle because the definition of tatting is a form of handmade lace made by a series of knots formulated by a reverse hitch-stitch more commonly called the double-stitch. The only way to make this kind of stitch is with a shuttle of some sort. Needle tatting is something else, and yes, it looks like tatting, but it's not. It's made with a "hitch stitch"...not a "reverse hitch stitch", therefore it doesn't fit the definition of tatting.
Okay, that said, why do I have this book in my tatting library? Am I going over to "The Dark Side"??? LOL! Nope, I want to learn needle tatting so that if I run into someone who is doing needle tatting and they want to learn how to tat the correct way I want to have an understanding of where they are coming from. Therefore, I can be a better teacher in their transition from needle tatting to shuttle tatting. That's all I'm going to say. I don't want to ☺"needle" ☺ my friends who do the other kind of "tatting" too much because it's a highly emotional subject in the online tatting community...HO boy!
The book shown is part of an "Alphabetized Index of my Personal Tatting Library" and is not for sale by me. I receive no financial compensation from any book sellers for posting or linking to any shops. Feel free to leave your own comments or review about this book in the comments.
